Sandy – Born Date: 10/29/2018. Sandy is a freelance Reporter in Boston, MA.  The turbulent political climate during her college days at Ohio University in the early 70’s shaped the lens and framework for her activism in later years.

Sandy used her journalism degree as a passport to speak on issues that affect women across the globe. The struggle for women to realize their freedoms as human beings was an issue that touched an emotional hot spot. For decades, men enjoyed privilege and power that was in stark contrast to the restrictions and oppression experienced and felt by women.

As a tall, African-American woman in America raised by conformist parents, she felt pressured to fit the societal mold set for her at birth. This mold constricted her ability to freely love and accept herself. Her ideology on sex, love, self-expression and gender equality defied the social “norm” at that time and she felt ostracized when she shared/expressed her views.

Sandy’s crusade lead her to be an investigative journalist in countries such as Yemen (helping to develop a minimum age for marriage) and Honduras (helping shed a light on the need for domestic violence shelters) and Egypt (helping women fight female genital mutilation) .These days, Sandy offers her skills pro-bono to illuminate the voice of women that have suffered from domestic abuse and alcohol and drug addiction around the United
