Zinears – Born Date 10/29/18: Zinears, from Roanoke, VA, is a lawyer specializing in the fight to maintain and restore lands and rights to the indigenous people of the Americas. A trailblazer of the times, she is an alum of Virginia Union University, History department and graduate of Howard University School of law.

A life without civil rights was one all too familiar for Zi. She and her family faced years of discrimination due to their African American and Pequot heritage. Her sophomore year in high school the family faced displacement due to imminent domain. They fought hard through the court system to maintain their rights to their home and land but lost the battle. With the loss of their family land and property also went their assets and money saved.

The loss caused extreme stress on the family and in order to survive, their mother moved to Washington, DC and Zi stayed in Roanoke, VA with her father and three brothers. It was at this point in her life that she decided to spend her life pursuing justice for those like her family. The stress and trauma of marginalized living a too great and is detrimental to the evolution of those subjected to it.
